The
Lamattina Group is a private, wholly Australian owned and operated
company, based in Boneo, some 80kms south of Melbourne with total
property holdings of 9,000 acres.

It
was founded in 1955 by Angelo and Giuseppina Lamattina, and is now
operated and managed by Russell and Tina Lamattina, Angelo's
youngest son and his wife Tina. Together the experience of the old
and the innovation of the young form a strong and successful
partnership. Today, The Lamattina Group stands as one of the largest
fresh food producers in Australia.
From humble beginnings, The Lamattina Group began by
working 2 acres of land literally with a horse and plough. After
many progressive moves, it purchased and set up 500 acres of
sparsely covered bush and scrub in Boneo, on the Mornington
Peninsula in Victoria in 1987. The property is less than an hour
from Melbourne where it enjoys a temperate, frost-free climate and
deep, well-drained sandy soils. 2002 saw the acquisition of another
500 acres, which brought the total holdings to 1,000 acres of some
of the most productive working farmland in Victoria.

The commitment to supply consistent quality products
saw the creation of a ancillary company in Happy Valley, on the
banks of the Murray River in northern Victoria, in 1993. This
property consists of approximately 8,000 acres in total. Its unique
soil and climate was chosen to compliment the Boneo operation. It
has also satisfied the requirement, during the time of the year when
vegetables are scarce and or they where difficult to grow in the
sandy soils of Boneo. It was developed to vertically integrate with
the Boneo operation, and has done so perfectly.
Since the restructuring of the group in 1991, The Lamattina Group has emerged as an icon in the fresh produce markets
around Australia. It prides itself in being able to produce
consistently high quality vegetables. A meticulous planting program
ensures that all crops receive the best possible consideration. All
the produce is harvested packed and cooled without delay, under the
strictest supervision, to maintain freshness and ultimate quality.
It is then transported in state of the art refrigerated units, to
preserve the cool-chain and to prevent unnecessary strain on the
produce, so it arrives in peak condition to our valued customers.
The development of The Lamattina Group is based on
the use of the best available technology, age-old know how, and hard
work. It is operated with a personal and moral commitment that only
exists in a well-managed family business.
